Boredom Strikes

This is a fun way to waste 5-10 minutes.

Make a band album cover:

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5 - Post it!

Absolutely Lovely
sinwagons
Just a few days ago, I watched a film on HBO (I think) called "Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement." It was easily one of the most beautiful, heart-warming, and soul-stirring documentary films I have ever seen.

The film is about two women, partnered for 42 years. They shared their lives with each other, and they share their lives with the viewer, through countless pictures and stories. They document the wonderful times together (trips around the world, nights of dancing, etc.), the not so wonderful times (discrimination, illness, etc.), and all of the times in between. Through these 42 years of memories, you can see the passion and love for each other endure, and it melted the cynical edges around my secretly romantic heart.

At the end of the film, spurred on by Thea's negative prognosis (she has MS), the two women travel to Toronto to finally marry each other. It is a lovely end to a lovely lifetime spent together. In the future, whenever I meet people who protest against gay marriage, I will refer them to this movie. If this movie can't prove to them that love and marriage is about more than gender, then nothing can.

Pity Party
sinwagons
I am sick today.

If I'm going to have a pity party post, I may as well go all out and list everything that's bothering me:

1. My eyes itch/water.
2. I've felt like I've had to sneeze all day, and I can't.
3. I am so congested; everyone sounds like they're talking to me through a thick cloud of cotton.
4. My head hurts.
5. My nose is leaky.
6. I haven't had a proper night of sleep in a few weeks.
7. I am unemployed.
8. I have make-up homework to do.
9. I miss my college friends.
10. I miss living 5 minutes away from the beach.
11. I am broke.
12. I'm out of cigarettes.
13. My family is batshit crazy.
14. I hate Florida, and its weather.
15. I wish the Skins/Naomily fandom was as active as it was for most of Gen 2.
16. I'm feeling burnt out. I'm starting to forget why I used to love school.
17. I have no definite ideas about what I want to do with my life after school, and I'm getting closer to having to choose.

That's most of my current problems. Today is just one of those shit days, I suppose.

Happy Birthday Kat and Meg!
sinwagons
So, it was Kat and Meg's birthday yesterday. They're 19. I hope their day was awesome, and they had a lot of fun!

I'm going to celebrate their birth/existence with gifspam!

Rophydoes is the messiah of this fandom!
sinwagons
So, if you haven't read rophydoes' recap of Naomi's episode, you're seriously missing out. It's hilarious and sweet. I swear, I don't think I've read a better recap of any show, ever, from anyone. It's that great.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but I will say that Rophy are geniuses with screencaps, making up stories (e.g. the gayest competition and Sophia's postmortem stalking), and conveying what we were all thinking during that episode (even if that just means pounding on the keyboard after a particularly moving scene).

Here's the link to the first page of it. There are 5 pages, so it's quite long, and it's obvious they worked hard on it.

Cruisin' Songs
sinwagons
I was on a 3 hour drive up to Northern Florida yesterday with my cousins. I had the top down; the wind was blowing through our hair, the sun was beating down on our skin, and my radio was blasting music from my iPod, but, eventually, I had a hard time finding good songs to play.

I have a lot of great music on my iPod, but most of it's sad indie stuff - the kind that worries more about heart-wrenching lyrics than the dance-ability of the beat. I really want some good music that's perfect for driving with the top down. So, please, if you read this, suggest something.

Here's some examples of my current favorites:

Daytime
You Are A Runner, And I Am My Father's Son by Wolf Parade
Grolandic Edit by of Montreal
Time to Pretend by MGMT

Nighttime
Basic Space by The xx
Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl by Broken Social Scene
Colors and the Kids by Cat Power

P.S. Anything but country, please

Skins Movie!
sinwagons
So, I've assumed that a Skins movie would be made since I started watching this show about a month ago, but now it's confirmed! (http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28002)

I'm really excited, and I hope to see some happy Naomily moments.

I'd also like Keffy to happen in the movie, but I know that isn't likely. Oh well, I'm still excited!

First Post
sinwagons
Well, this is my first post on LiveJournal. I mainly joined because of the awesome Skins/Naomily fandom that I found here. I love all of the stories, fans, and communities. I'm not sure what I'll do with this account, but I guess I'll see where this goes.
